The trustees of the BDRHOF Benevolent Fund would like to thank all those that have contributed to total contributions of £1,518 so far. Trustee and treasurer Simon Groves said ‘Many thanks to all those that have contributed through the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Gala last November, and for further contributions from Santa Pod Racers Club, Avon Park International Racers Association and Pennine Dragway’.
The BDRHOF Benevolent Fund was established and registered with the Charities Commission in 2016 to create a professional fund raising platform to support injured racers and the Air Ambulances that support the tracks. A bank account has been set up and a BT MyDonate internet fundraising page is live at https://mydonate.bt.com/charities/bdrhofbenevolentfund
Fund raising efforts in 2017 will be focused on the key events with BDRHoF presence: The Main Event, Dragstalgia and the European Finals. At the Main Event there will be one bucket collection along the bank and at the nostalgia marquee in the morning and one in the afternoon, on each of Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Collections will be announced by commentators at an appropriate point in proceedings, please give generously by placing cash in the donation buckets.
The BDRHOF Benevolent Fund is grateful to Santa Pod Raceway for granting us permission to raise funds in this way.
There will also be collections at BDRHOF events and through corporate giving by sponsors. Our overall 2017 target is £10,000 which will give us resource to make a sizeable grant to those in need.
The BDRHOF Benevolent Fund is run for drag racers by trustees who have had many years’ experience in the sport. Trustees are: Stu Bradbury, Simon Groves, Robin Jackson, Ian Messenger, Graham Beckwith, Ian Marshall and Phil Cottingham.
The BDRHoF Benevolent Fund has been created as registered charity no. 1167197 and is run for racers or officials who through injury have fallen on hard times and may be invited to apply for grants. Money raised will also go to the Air Ambulances local to UK drag racing tracks. All money raised by donation goes to charitable grants.
