The Directors and Members of the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame are saddened to learn of the death of Eileen Daniels, the American who served as an honorary International Ambassador for the Hall of Fame.
Following a racing career in the 1950s with her husband Bob, the couple became important figures in NHRA administration throughout the ensuing decades. Eileen supported Bob in his roles as NHRA Division 3 director and as manager of Indianapolis Raceway Park. They were influential contributors to the burgeoning nostalgia Drag Racing scene and, following Bob’s death in 2007, Eileen continued organising and presenting nostalgia exhibitions at NHRA’s Gatornationals and US Nationals.
Eileen’s sunny disposition illuminated the British Hall of Fame Galas in 2015 and 2016 and she enlivened our Bench Racing sessions with stories of life spent at the forefront of Drag Racing from its earliest days. We offer our condolences to Eileen’s daughter, Diana Jones, and to the rest of her family. Rest in peace.
