Four individuals, one team and one organisation have been selected for induction as new Members of the Hall of Fame: Syd McDonald, former Santa Pod Race Director and SPRC club steward; Team Triple R, led by Robin Read, which has made Daimler power a force to be reckoned with in drag racing; Phil Baimbridge, distinguished Top Fuel Bike racer and builder; Andy Willsheer, veteran drag race photojournalist; Motorsport UK, the governing body of motorsport in Britain; and Tony Betts, a racer since the 1970s now leading the way with Historic Funny Cars.
A fresh format has been introduced for the Stuart Bradbury Junior Drag Racing Awards. Bradbury trophies and cheques will be presented to four championship-winning Junior racers: the season champions in the SPRC Carl Cox Motorsport Junior Dragster and Junior Dragbike series and the Melbourne Championship title winners in Junior Sprint Car and Junior Bike.
BDRHoF director Bev Bradbury said: “My late husband Stuart would have been proud that the awards named in his honour were being expanded to embrace both tracks, Santa Pod and Melbourne, currently hosting Junior drag racing in the UK.”
The Hall of Fame could not exist to celebrate drag racing’s history and achievements without the support of our sponsors, to whom we are indebted: Santa Pod Raceway; Santa Pod Racers Club; Flexiwaste Environmental, Ashdown Bulk Haulage and The Undertaker Fuel Funny Car; Straightliners; GTM Racing; UK Scaffolding and Shotgun Racing; the National Street Rod Association; VP Racing; Three Brothers Brewing Co; 772 Coatings; Turbosmart; The Leeks Landscape Group; Eurodragster.com; Peter Walters Race Design; Paul Whitehouse Art; JulianHunt.net; Shakespeare County Relics.
